First Camping Trip

Through the buzzing of the 13 year secadas and the fears of a fleet of those pesky buzzers flying in and stealing Dani away, the whole Spann gang survived the first camping trip of the season.   And on site 19 of Meramec State Park Dani Banani survived her first camping trip ever.

Some would say that we don't really "camp", and that's fine.  It was in the 90's this past weekend, and it was more than helpful to take Dani into a cool RV to nap and cool off.  It was also very helpful for sleeping in general, though the dogs kicked Dad right out of bed.

Speaking of Dad, it seems Mom and Dad forgot anything that wasn't attached.  Maybe that is a slight exaggeration, but it was close.  The first camping trip of the season is always rough.

Dani however spent her time meeting the Rynders family and making friends, going for stroller rides in the evenings, bouncing on laps and dancing her tush off.  In fact, due to the heat, she spent a good portion on her weekend with only a diaper meaning she got to do a lot of the "naked baby dance".  She even sat up alone in her make shift "crib" and played with a ball.  She toppled a few times and managed to get her self onto her back, but for the most part she quietly (or rather not so quietly) babbled away while hitting the ball and playing like a big girl. She was a really good girl behaving better that I would have imagined (maybe because there were witnesses).

If I had to guess though, what Dani's favorite part of camping would be, it would not be the camp fire, the marshmallows, the camper, the cobbler, or the secadas, rather her new friend Erica.  Just seeing Erica caused Dano Dano to put on the great big gummy grin if hers and do the "too happy for words" dance.

Some other highlights: The dogs had fun and the rode for the first time in the new truck, we used the new grill, and we ripped part of the canopy out of the side of the camper.
