First Solids and Daddy's Face

Tonight we experimented with some puree squash and a spoon.  Beginnings of solid foods, take one!

I call this "Gerber Baby Wannabe"

One of Dano's calming methods is to rub dad's facial hair.  She likes to creep her little fingers through it, tighten into a fist and pull.

Easter and Stuff

I loathe when I don't get around to blogging since so much happens so often and when I don't get a chance to get it down, I end up trying to cram about a month's worth of goodies into one blog. Well, welcome to this month's cramming of info!

NEW STUFF
Dani not only babbles, but sings. Basically it's her babble that she carries out into a note. She tries to sit up on her own and ends up often tipping over and resting on her elbow. Her bottom half has grown out of her three month clothes but her upper half can still fit in them. I recently went through and thinned out her clothing. She can successfully put her foot in her mouth and enjoys to play with most toys she can handle. She also loves the dogs, watches them intently, grabs what she can when she can. The dogs are going to be in a world of hurt when the time comes!

CAREER DANI

First we have our little Musician Dani:

Next we have mom putting the poor girl in my hard hat, she can't even see out, we shall call her Construction Dani!

HOLIDAY DANI

Then we move on to coloring Easter eggs. I know that Dani had no idea what we were doing, but she did seem to enjoy it. I've included a PDF for you to see the whole process which includes trying to eat stuff, eating a bottle of milk because the teasing was not cool, watching dad color eggs, and more.

For a quick preview of the egg coloring, here you go...

Puffy Eye

What started out as an already interesting day for me at work became even more interesting when Holly called to let me know Dano was having some issues. Her eye was blood shot, her face around her eye was red and puffy with splotchy skin, and she was very lethargic and inconsolable. I even heard her in the background screaming. I called the doctor to ask what I should do, if this was something common, etc. Within the hour that it took me to call the doctor and to have the doctor call me back Holly had called twice to first let me know that she did eat and that calmed her a bit and then again to say that the oddest thing had happened and her eye and splotchy skin cleared up. When I picked her up that evening you could tell she had a bit of red puffy eyeness (yes, I made eyeness up). I had already made the appointment for Dani the following morning and I was glad. Through the night, while her eye never got worse, it never got better. When she woke in the morning, you would have never known anything was wrong (ahem, Mr. Murphy and his laws). Regardless I took Dani to the doctor and the doctor said "no more monkeys jumping..." oops, wrong story. The doctor really said that she thought perhaps Dano got something on her hand and then wiped her eye thus getting something on her skin and in her eye. Her eye watered profusely and so it cleared up quickly but the rest did not. Doc did an eye-dye exam to look for scratches, all was clear.

On another note, Dani weighed 11 pounds 1 ounce (with clothes on) and is starting to grow out of her 3 month clothes. (yea yea, she's 5 months in 3 month clothes, no need to point that out).

Phew...what drama!

Five Months Old!

Hurray Hurray Dani is 5 months old today! Her next doctor and photo appointments are all lined up for May. She's chowing like a pro (at breast and bottle). We've started taking regular walks in the evening when the weather permits. She certainly melts out hearts!

Sweetie!

Looks like she's about to tell us something

What a cutie!

I'm sure the commentary would be great with this photo!

Missing a sock...not at all surprised by this!

I'm Not the Only One with A Baby

This week while at work I've been glued to my computer screen watching an eagle family. Currently, as I write this, it's either a mama or papa eagle feeding two young babies. Then it switches to warming them along with one lone unhatched egg. Occasionally the camera pans out to show one of the few dead animals in the nest that the parent eagles pick at to feed the babies.

You often hear of these stories that happen as a once in a lifetime thing, "Blizzard of 82", "Flood of 93", "Red Sox winning a World Series". These are the legends that get passed along generations later, "I was ten when that happened and I had to fish pennies out of a well to go to it too", that sort of thing.

One of the things I hope Dani will get to tell others is that when she was a baby, there was a famous nest of Eagles on a live webcam (that mom was obsessed with watching). I know it sounds silly now, but it's amazing to see nature in this way, up close and yet undisturbed, to see how other creatures care for their babies, and to see just how vulnerable we are at any given time.

Anyway, if you haven't taken a look, it's worth seeing.

Now, I leave you with Dani playing and entertaining herself with her latest skill of grabbing her feet and grabbing objects that are out of her reach, and of course, more giggling (because giggling never gets old)!
