Emergency Bath Situation

I put Lil Bit in the bath tonight, get her all set up and stepped into her room to clean some while she played in the tub.  I panicked when I heard her shouting for me.  I ran in to see her frantic looking, nearly in tears and it took me a moment to realize she was saying "there's a poopy in the bath, there's a poopy in a bath".  I peered over and sure enough...there it was.  I laughed a bit and told her not to worry.  I cleared out the bath, pulled her out and set her on the potty while I cleaned.  I reassured her that it was okay and that accidents happen.  Nearly in tears she asked if I was mad at her.  Even if I had been, and I wasn't, there was no way I could look at that precious child and not smile.

When I cleaned the bathtub she didn't want to take a bath because she thought the poopy might come back up the drain.  It was an interesting conversation to explain the backflow preventer and that gravity would pull all waste down and not up.

Other things I do not want to forget:
Target = Guitar
Sauce Dips = Dipping Sauce
Stool Step = Step Stool
Gooseball = Goof Ball

Today, Sunday December 29, 2013 she is 36" tall.  Yesterday she went to Build-A-Bear for the first time and created red Dino (ferocious critter in a tutu and dance shirt).

Post Party

There are s million things I hope to never forget about watching my child grow.  For her party, some of these things are: the excitement in seeing guests come to her party, her thank yous for gifts, the excitement of opening a gift, the oohs ahs and facial expressions...

It All Goes By Too Fast

You've heard this a million times, "they grow up so fast".  It's no lie.  I was talking to an expecting friend today about what things I had that she can borrow.  Things that a year and a half ago we were using.  It went too fast.  No matter how many times I was told this, and no matter how much I knew it was true...the reality is that it doesn't hit you until you are in the storm.

My baby, that used to be just a teeny baby now talks back to me; helps me clean; vocalizes her needs/desires/choices; calls me out on using bad words or when I talk to myself; wants to use lip balms; has preferences; uses those bad words in proper context; empathizes and sympathizes; loves and hates; and grows out of her clothes.

It all goes by too fast.

Pumpkin Problems

My poor baby. She couldn't fall sleep last night & when I asked her why, she said, "mommy, I have problems".  Not having any idea what would plague a 2 year old I asked what her problems were and she told me she wanted pumpkins & apples.  This is something my mom mentioned to her a whole weekend ago.  My mom & I talked about going this coming weekend but vowed not to tell Lil Bit.  I had to tell her...in 2 minutes she was out!

Sroggie!

Today, after a week long "vacation" camping Dani and I came home to unpack and relax before returning to our routine.  She wanted to play outside and despite the fact she needed a nap I decided to go out and play with her on her playset.  She asked for some strawberries so I left her in the backyard under the guard of the dogs and went inside to prepare some strawberries for her.  As I'm in the kitchen I hear her screaming "mommy".  I ran as fast as I could to her thinking something terrible had happened.  There she is standing on her "tower" just where I left her, now screaming in tears.  I ask her what happened and she keeps pointing upwards muttering some word I do not understand.  Finally I clearly hear her "sroggie".  This translates to "froggie".  I ask her where the frog was, thinking it must have jumped on her, but she tells me it is on her telescope, and sitting right there on the telescope is what I assume was a terrified frog.  I convinced her to edge near me and I scooped her down.  She cried for a long time telling me the story, "sitting, srog, I cry, daddy promise to fix".  Daddy wasn't home when this happened but I believe she was telling me she was going to ask daddy to get rid of the frog for her, to which I assume he would promise to do so.

In other things, when she is cranky she tells me she has the crabbies.  After she wakes from a nap she tells me she slept the crabbies out.  Sometimes I think she confuses tears for "the crabbies".  When dad is crabby she says that he needs medicine.  Not sure where she picked that one up from...but, don't we all need some medicine now and then?

Other things:
sork = fork
dancing shoes = sparkly purple mary janes
tacos and hot dogs sound the same
swim soup = swim suit
bana = banana
Her car shows = Cars 2 movie, which stems from Sunday afternoon naps in daddy's lap watching his car shows, which are literally shows about car things (rebuilding, maintaining, upgrading of cars).  So, when she found the Cars 2 movies she would simply ask for "my car shows".

"My Baby"

So my baby is no longer a baby, just "my baby".  Now she plays with babies and even pats me on the back for a coloring session well done remarking, "that's beautiful baby".  She learned just this weekend to open the doors.  It took one moment of twisting the knob and pulling simultaneously to get it down to a science.  She can walk down and up stairs quite well which I honestly have to say is an improvement from just last weekend!  When did this happen?

While she won't count for me, I catch her counting out all the little treasures she collects (acorns, rocks, wipes...).  She counts to three and starts over again, her own little form of addition.
This weekend when I told her we were going shopping she starting expressing that she wanted to go buy toys.  She's never made such a request before.

She asks most days if she can go to grandma's house.  She remembers that she gets to and now it's what she wants all the time.  Just another indication to me that her memory is sharp.  She knows when we work, she knows when we go to bed, she knows when she doesn't have to take a bath.  She may not be able to tell time, but her internal clock and memory are working together, against me.

She has also figured out that when she doesn't want to do something, she can distract me with a good hug and the phrase, "I love you mommy".  SUCKER!!!!!!  I'm just a sucker.  I don't care either, I'll take it.

Using the Potty

Yesterday for the first real time ever, Dani sat on the potty and pooped.  As soon as it happened she jumped up and ran to tell me there was poop in the potty.  I saw it and congratulated her like no mom has ever congratulated a child for poop.  After that she sat on the potty about 4 more times to see if she could replicate the event and excitement.  No more poop came, but we celebrated anyway!
