Comments

So, I'm not sure how well this will work, but I've added a widget to this blog that should allow me to "like" comments that you post! I've seen so many that I always think would be great to "like" or "thumbs up" but I just wasn't able to do so. I did a little searching and found a very helpful site called Intense Debate that let me do this.

So here it goes, comment away in this blog and all future blogs so I can "like" what you say!

Double Digits

Yesterday was Dani's checkup at the doctor's office, dad took her. I cried myself silly while headed to work because I had to miss the appointment. Good thing is though, my baby girl finally broke into the double digits (officially)! She weighed 10 pounds 1 ounce!

Other than that, doc says she's good. We're supposed to start giving her vitamin D, and we should wait until her 6 month checkup to discuss when we should start solids.

In other news, last night was the first night Dano slept in her crib all night in her own room! She woke up once for food but promptly went back to bed. You might be wondering why it has taken this long for Dani to sleep in her own room, but we've been transitioning. The transition is not for Dani's sake, but mama's! It has been a happy and heartbreaking week and we're only on Tuesday!!

Roll Over Dani-o

Today was a big day! I laid Dani on her belly expecting to hear the regular screaming that she does when I put her down for "tummy time". I turned to pull clothes out of the dresser and when I turned around Dani was on her back. You'd think I would have figured out she put her self that way, but to make sure I wasn't crazy I put her back on her tummy. Whatdoya know?!?! She rolled over!!!!!!

The dogs were thinking, "big freaking deal, we do that all the time, how 'bout a treat over here, woof woof?!"

To prove it just one more time, we showed dad the cool knew trick. We promptly rubbed her belly which is proof we've been dog owners a lot longer than parents!

Other things about today, we got 5 inches of snow. One day I hope to tell a story about the day Dani rolled from her belly to her back it snowed 5 inches, but I probably won't recall that only until I read this blog post.

We were without television and internet for over 24 hours. So we played some Wii, Dani got added to the Mii's and she shows up as a baby on Wii Fit Plus, it's pretty cute. The Wii says she's 10.1 pounds!!

Lastly, today, Dani dressed liker her baby doll...

Grabbing Things

The last week we've seen great strides in Dani's motor skills. She beginning to grab her feet. This in itself brought some mild humor to those of us witnessing the ordeal. She'd pull her legs in and put her hands out but didn't quite have the skills to do both at the same time so she could grab her feet. Those of us that have been around while this was going on have grabbed her feet for her and pulled them up to her hands and mouth. Just this morning she actually grabbed one of her feet but didn't hold it for long.

Yestday when Chris was toting her around the house she reached for an orange (Minneola Tangelo to be exact) sitting on the island countertop. She not only reached for it, but grabbed it. She wasn't able to pick it up or hold it, but she was able to grab at it with her wee tiny hands.

As you've seen before, her giggling and laughter has made us very happy lately. Her ability to follow conversation (stories, etc) has progressed as well. It's very exciting to see how well she's moving along!

Some of her more recent favorites:
Piggies (of course)
Mom's version of The Three Little Pigs
Watching the Wiggles
Dad (of course)

For your entertainment, a picture of Dani and her wild hair as taken this morning!

Giggling Never Gets Old

SO it seems as Dano begins to feel better after having her cold, her mood improves! Here's a clip of a giggle-fest we had yesterday!  Her giggling never gets old!

A Messy Morning

This morning after nursing Dani and trying eagerly to convince Chris he wanted to change her diaper, Dani made the tell tale sign of a healthy poop! The machine gun bursts simply meant I had to change my poor girl's diaper. While getting up to do so Dani seemed to gag on her pacifier that ended up with vomit all down the front of me. It got down into my v-neck pajamas and slid it's way on through to drip on the floor! I made Chris come help me, got to a point where I could change her and Chris joked that she should pee on me and cover all the bases! Well instead, she sneezed on me. So, I get through this, attempt to set her in her pack 'n' play and she puked again, all over me, all inside the pin. This time I decide we're going straight to the shower. I get everything set up and as I have Chris handing her to me and removing her diaper, she pees. So it seems she got me with just about as much as she could spare for the morning. It made for a good laugh!!

4 Months Old

It's about time I got around to posting something. I have actually started writing several separate posts...these are the excerpts:
So my Dano Dano is 4 months old today. She's had a busy couple of weeks these past few weeks. She's attended her first funeral [for my dear cousin Matt], she went to her first party [okay, yes, it was for NASCAR, there I said it], she went to her first bridal shower [one of the Sutters is gettin' hitched, congrats Em], and she caught her first cold. I'll wait for you to finish sighing in sympathy for her before I go on....sigh....

There comes a time when all parents do something they should not do. ... Sometimes I find myself not telling anyone exactly what I do because I'm afraid of the backlash, and I know other moms do that too. In the end I find myself admitting the truths with just about the same reasoning as other parents, I do what I feel is best for my child.

My poor little girl is congested. I've been using nose saline drops pretty much since her birth, we've been sucking snot, goobers, and boogie monsters for the past month, and finally, it's in her chest. With that comes the cough. And the puke.

She ate. She puked...on me. I sat in my pukey clothes...

Babies do some interesting things to people, like get them to act like a squeaky piggy in the middle of a restaurant!

We got some new gPants. All together we have 8 smalls, 4 mediums and 1 large. Admittedly, I have a diaper problem. I buy these things without thinking...

So I guess it's a good thing to finally get to posting as a lot has happened. Today we had her 4 month check up at the doctor's office. She weights 9 pounds 7 ounces with a head circumference of 15 1/8 inches and a length of 22 3/4 inches. She is about a third of my height. Now, for those of you that pay attention, you might be thinking that a baby of four months old should be approximately twice their birth weight, which for Dani, is 9 pounds 14 ounces. Since she is not quite there (likely due to a cold and therefore eating less) she will return in 2 weeks to make sure she's still doing okay. She also got her vaccines that have made for a crabby night and her first dose of acetaminophen. As for the cold, the doctor says her lungs sound fine and that I should continue with the boogie suctioning, nose dropping, and T.L.C. I should also purchase some probiotics and put half a capsule in one of her bottles. If she isn't better in one week we have to call the doctor and get some antibiotics that neither the doctor nor I really want to do. So, we'll just see how this pans out.

Since my time is limited, and ol' fussy is fussin' as she does best, I've got to end here and tend to my darling. But, I shall leave you with a video of daddy making Dani giggle.
