The Things We Say

I've been thinking recently how grown up my child is starting to appear to me.  Despite my efforts in convincing her to stay small forever, she just keeps growing up.

There are some tiny things that stick around and one of those is the things she says.  Cash tran is still used instead of trash can.  Spaghetti is spaghetti, no more adorable version of that.  A guitar is more like kit-tar.

As of late, I've caught her saying "hippie" in a situation where one might say "yippie".  It had me wondering if I enunciate that word so poorly that she picked up an 'h'.  But I don't really say that word, so she must have picked it up elsewhere.  But, now that I hear it, I don't ever want to use the 'y', it's going to be "hippie" for me!

In other news, school is starting soon and we should be in person 5 days a week on a regular school day schedule.  I'm not loving it, but I also don't know what else to do.  Like most parents, no one has any idea, no one feels good about any choice, and everyone is nervous, but numb enough to forge ahead.  We shall see what will pass...
